Vaccine Policy

Childhood diseases like measles, polio, and whooping cough have caused countless deaths and lifelong disabilities over the years but thanks to vaccines, these deadly illnesses are now preventable. Without vaccination programs, these diseases could return, posing a serious threat to global health and future generations. Dr. Smita Tandon has personally witnessed the devastation, pain, and heartbreak caused by these vaccine-preventable diseases.

Vaccines are a vital component of your child’s health. They strengthen the immune system and provide the most effective protection against serious, and sometimes life-threatening, infections and diseases such as meningitis, measles, polio, whooping cough, pneumonia, chickenpox, COVID-19, and RSV. Vaccination is key to safeguarding your child's future.

Our practice is aware that there is a lot of unverified information, not backed by research and scientific studies, on the efficacy, need, and potential side effects of vaccinations. Not vaccinating your child not only puts your children at risk but also everyone else, including grandparents, children too young to vaccinate, immunocompromised children and adults, those being treated for cancer and children with immune deficiencies.

We understand that vaccination is a personal decision. However, if you choose not to vaccinate, we kindly suggest transferring to a practice that better aligns with your beliefs and we will provide you with official documentation to safely transition your child's medical care to another pediatric practice.

Declining vaccinations exposes your child to unnecessary medical risks and compromises the safety of vulnerable individuals in our community, including newborns and immunocompromised patients. Because our practice commitment relies on providing evidence-based standards of care, we require our patients to adhere to the recommended immunization schedules. Our office is committed to promoting public health through vaccination, and we believe it is important to prioritize the well-being of all our patients and their families as well as that of our dedicated office staff. We strictly adhere to the evidence-based guidelines established by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).
